Shook is a nationally known author, journalist and photographer whose specialty areas include business and financial reporting, outdoor and travel writing. He covered the oil and gas industry for the Dallas Times Herald and the steel industry for the Birmingham News. He has filed stories from the North Slope of Alaska to the Paris Basin in France. His outdoor writing, angling and travel assignments have taken him from Cape Cod, Mass. to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and from Hudson Bay, Manitoba to Caracas, Venezuela.
